Things are going great for our sister organization POHA! Four POHA Houses in Aachen and Münster are now up and running, and two more in Hamburg and Düsseldorf are nearing completion. New locations in Essen and Cologne are already in the works.

A flurry of awards and enthusiasm
And while it would be true to say that demand is high, that would be a significant understatement: there is genuine enthusiasm for our sister company’s co-living concept—and on an international scale. The latest proof: multiple wins at various awards ceremonies.
Historic Preservation Meets Co-Living
So there’s plenty of momentum behind the current projects. After receiving the building permit in February, construction began on the sixth POHA House at Essen’s Pferdemarkt. The scaffolding is up, and 5,200 m² of gross floor area are waiting to be transformed. What makes this project special is that it’s the first construction project POHA is carrying out on its own behalf. The challenge: The entire—beautiful—building is a listed historic structure.
The facade, the stairwells, and the historic roof truss will be fully preserved. Parts of the historic box windows will be restored in accordance with preservation guidelines. Technical Project Manager Sebastian Grunwald is particularly taken with the delicate ribbed ceilings; they will be completely renovated. “We developed a concept for this together with the historic preservation authority,” he says. “That’s technically amazing!”
Living, Working, Well-being: An Overview of the New POHA House
Upon completion in late 2027, POHA House Essen will offer 74 residential units as well as six POHA Stay apartments for short-term rentals. The coworking area will feature up to 90 workstations. In addition—as is always the case with POHA—there will be attractive communal spaces. The Essen location will include a fitness room, a yoga room, a lounge, and POHA Dining with a large kitchen.
Swept the board in Barcelona and London
Our sister company POHA House is racking up awards with its innovative co-living spaces—and on an international stage: At the Coliving Awards gala in Barcelona, the POHA team took the stage three times. POHA won in all three categories in which it was nominated!
POHA was honored as “Operator of the Year” and for the best “User & Community Experience.” We are particularly pleased with the third win—a joint achievement by the Landmarken family: Our Moringa Hamburg HafenCity took home the prize in the “Building & Architecture” category for its design of the POHA Cospaces.
Moringa is also a big hit
There had already been cause for celebration in London. Our Moringa project was also in the spotlight at the Urban Impact Living Awards, where it was honored with the “Best Sustainability Initiative” award. This category recognizes housing initiatives that offer measurable environmental benefits and promote social well-being. Moringa, with its POHA co-living concept, proves that a residential building can be far more than just four walls: namely, circular, community-oriented, and future-proof.
“I’ve never seen such a combination of a sustainable building with an innovative, sustainable operating concept,” one of the international jurors said afterward. What motivating feedback!
