POHA House

Good vibes instead of Stromberg's harassment

Landmarke No. 34

Say goodbye to the stuffy office atmosphere! Who doesn’t remember the yellow-brown dreariness of “Capitol Versicherung” from the cult series *Stromberg*? But at the Kölner Straße location in Cologne, not a single stone will be left unturned. Where incompetence and office gloom once reigned supreme, our sister company POHA House is creating a haven for urban joie de vivre as part of the “Cologne West Office Campus.” A radical transformation of the existing building is underway across 6,800 m².

The bare facts, a full life: 171 apartments and 38 office desks

171 apartments, a coworking space with 38 office desks, a community area with a terrace, POHA Dining, and a gym—all spread across approximately 6,800 m² of gross floor area: those are the basic facts about the first POHA House in Cologne.

Bye-bye Capitol: The Transformation of an Iconic Landmark

What’s more, our sister company’s project is something truly special: as part of a larger urban renewal initiative to create Swiss Life’s “Cologne West Office Campus,” the POHA House is the result of a rather unique renovation of an existing building. The building is also known as the filming location for “Stromberg,” the wonderfully absurd and highly successful cult series about a despicable office worker with an extremely macho demeanor.

In the future, the building will have nothing in common with the headquarters of the fictional “Capitol Insurance” from the series—neither externally nor, certainly not, in terms of atmosphere. The building envelope, like the interior, will be significantly modernized. The building on Eupener Straße will be powered by a heat pump system in the future, and photovoltaic panels will be installed on the roof.

And inside, instead of bullying, harassment, and incompetence, a friendly community management team will move in, conveying an urban zest for life in beautiful, sustainably furnished spaces. A true POHA House, in other words!
