Where rubber seals used to be produced, a new neighborhood is being created as a contribution to urban development. It is a process that many people are helping to shape. In the coming years, a wonderful new part of the city will emerge.
After several buildings and halls on the former Hutchinson factory site in Aachen had already been demolished— one of which has already been rebuilt in the Netherlands and thus excellently reused – only a large pile of rubble on the site in Aachen-Rothe Erde reminds us of the former factory of the automotive supplier.
Jörg Kunz and Wilm Schwarzpaul, the two managing partners of our sister company ecoPARKS, have climbed it – the view is fantastic. It gives an idea of what a beautiful, productive neighborhood can be created here, to which the "viewing hill" on which the two are standing will also contribute. "None of it will be taken away and disposed of," says Wilm Schwarzpaul, looking down at his feet. "It will all stay here and be used on site." Yesterday's materials will become tomorrow's foundations – as a prelude, so to speak, to the new neighborhood, whose development is being driven forward together with the teams from Landmarken and Stadtmarken.
"At this location, we can implement our sustainable offering for urban production."

"With the participation of politicians, administrators, and neighbors, an innovative, productive urban district with a wide range of uses will be created in the coming years," says Jörg Kunz. "At this location, we can implement our sustainable urban production concept, which will even be combined with a transition to residential use."
The next important step has already been taken: at the end of August, the planning committee of the city of Aachen initiated early public participation in the development of the Hutchinson site.
