Landmarken lays foundation stone for 209 apartments in Düsseldorf
Landmarken is building a complex with 209 apartments, a co-working space, and three retail units on Kölner Straße in Düsseldorf. The foundation stone for the "Leben am Sonnenpark" project was laid on September 8. Construction is progressing well: the floor slab is now being laid on top of the underground car park and the ground floor is being built at the rear. The construction work is being carried out by August Prien. Completion is scheduled for mid-2027.
A total of around 17,400 square meters of gross floor space will be created on the 6,300 m² site, around 14,000 of which will be for residential use. Fifty percent of the living space is publicly subsidized. The subsidized 2- to 5-room apartments are suitable for students and trainees as well as seniors and families.
"We are creating a wonderful mix of urgently needed living space, co-living, co-working, and local amenities," says Landmarken project manager Jennifer Monecke. Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller is also looking forward to the new living space: "This project is a very good example of modern, affordable, high-quality living in Düsseldorf."
In the privately financed section, Landmarken's sister company POHA House will implement its innovative co-living concept of living, working, and community under one roof. For both the POHA community and external guests who can book in, the POHA co-working space with 40 workstations will be created on almost 300 m² with 40 workstations. There will also be attractive communal areas, including a large roof terrace.
On the ground floor, facing Kölner Strasse, there will be three retail units serving the local community. A Rossmann drugstore, a bakery, and a Lidl discount store will offer their goods on more than 3,100 square meters of space. At the rear, facing the inner courtyard, studio apartments suitable for artists will also be built on the ground floor. They will have specially designed spaces for creative work and exhibitions.
The roof areas will be greened and equipped with a photovoltaic system. In addition, Landmarken is constructing an underground car park with 105 spaces and will build an access road for the city to connect to Sonnenpark. A mobility station sponsored by Landmarken and operated by the municipal provider CMD (Connected Mobility Düsseldorf) will be built there.
The architecture of the project was designed by the firm kister scheithauer gross architekten, whose design emerged as the winner of a quality assurance competition.
Together with the almost completed "GOL:D ECK" project, which is being realized by Eckehard Adams Wohnungsbau GmbH on Lütticher Straße, more than 400 residential units are being built in Düsseldorf with Landmarken's participation. "GOL:D ECK" is the result of an urban development investor selection process in which the Landmarken design prevailed against 30 competitors.
