Preserving and utilizing history

There are over half a million historic buildings in Germany—and almost all types of real estate are represented, from residential buildings and parks to former ramparts and churches to bridges and old industrial buildings. Every property with this status is something special, a testament to its kind from its time, a piece of history.

When walking through a city, you often pass countless historic buildings or even walk through them. They make history tangible, something you can touch. They shape our cities and cityscapes and show us why a city looks the way we know it today.

Historical buildings therefore have not only enormous historical value, but also great social value. Preserving them and integrating them into the modern cityscape is particularly important to us. We renovate and revitalize listed buildings, develop new concepts for their use, and always keep the preservation of history in mind.

A completely new concept for train stations

The development of the east side of Münster Central Station has significance far beyond the Westphalian metropolis, as was already clear at the groundbreaking ceremony at the end of November: While just a few meters away, the so-called Mäkler, a giant cutter from the Dutch specialist company Winmix, dug through the ground, Ina Scharrenbach, among others, courageously grabbed a tool.
