Transformation of the company premises as part of the C-Werk quarter

On the former site of automotive supplier Hutchinson in Aachen, where rubber seals were produced until 2020, a new neighborhood is being built as part of the district's development.

The former factory buildings have already been demolished to make way for an innovative, productive urban district with a wide range of uses. The development is being carried out in close cooperation between the sister companies Landmarken, Stadtmarken, and ecoPARKS.

After initial ideas for the new district had already emerged in a student competition, the well-known Cologne architect Pablo Molestina developed an urban design that combines commercial uses and a sustainable offering for urban production with a transition to residential uses. This is now being developed into a master plan.

In addition to the design process, another special feature of the development is the participatory procedure, which includes joint workshops and an advisory team of experts. A steering committee was set up to review the urban design, comprising experts in urban planning and landscape architecture as well as specialist representatives from the Aachen administration. Local residents have also been involved in the process through our wan·del·bar and have been able to contribute their ideas.
