Number one in Aachen
From the bar, you can enjoy the view of the theater, while inside, a fully enclosed courtyard provides a peaceful retreat—right in the heart of the city.
Motel One is the third project in the major urban redevelopment of Aachen's Theaterplatz, alongside "WE PARTMENT – Leben am Elisengarten" and Bankhaus am Theater, with a total investment volume of €55 million.
With two-sided access and a main entrance facing the theater on Kapuzinergraben, the hotel will have around 260 rooms, many of which will offer a view of the theater or the Art Nouveau swimming pool on Elisabethstraße, where there will be another entrance.
An architectural competition was held specifically for the facades at this urbanistically sensitive location as part of a multiple commission. The winning design was submitted by Cologne-based architects Gatermann + Schossig. The jury praised the skill with which the historical structure of the previously small plots was subtly preserved in the modern facade.
It is not only the location – a stone's throw from the cathedral – that makes this site ideal for a hotel. Motel One has also recognized great potential in the rising number of overnight stays by out-of-town guests.
Dieter Müller, founder and CEO of Motel One: "We are very pleased to be developing this central location in Aachen with Landmarken AG. We are confident that Motel One and our budget lifestyle concept will be successful here too."
