Modular, flexible, versatile
The main customs office at Guten Freund, a modern office complex with spacious green areas, is the first Landmarken project to be realized largely using modular construction.
Designed by pbs architekten, the complex consists of two components that provide urgently needed space for the Aachen office market. The larger component 1, measuring 9,600 m², was built by modular construction specialist ALHO and has already been leased. It features a green inner courtyard that invites visitors to linger.
Concrete discussions are also already underway with prospective tenants for the smaller building, which has a rental area of approx. 2,400 m² and is being constructed using conventional methods. The construction partner for this part, which will feature a rooftop garden, is Depenbrock, with whom there has been excellent communication since the beginning of the collaboration.
The ready-to-assemble room modules for building section 1 are being produced in the modern production halls of the ALHO factory and already feature fittings such as windows, walls, and cabling. Weather-independent production at the factory enables the highest quality standards to be met, and the construction time is also significantly shorter than with conventional construction methods. This allows for punctual handover to the tenant even at short notice.
With the main customs office, Landmarken AG is creating an outstanding architectural addition to the neighboring, award-winning Guter Freund residential quarter on behalf of a private investor. The former military depot on this site is thus finally being given a new purpose with residential and work spaces in the immediate vicinity of shopping facilities and with excellent connections to the city center, local and long-distance public transport, and the highway.
