New Concepts for Attractive Gathering Places
Cities should continue to be vibrant urban hubs in the future. That’s why we at Landmarken are committed to developing the right mix of different uses for each location. Dining and sustainable consumption are key components of this.
The decline of retail—which shaped our downtowns for many decades—can also be seen as an opportunity. New, inviting dining concepts are taking root in many of the former retail spaces. In doing so, we’re creating attractive gathering places for those who live in the city center, work there, or come into the city for other purposes. And where different usage concepts like these merge and generate new foot traffic, retail also benefits—and will continue to play an important role in our cities in the future.
Sustainable consumption is increasingly taking center stage: people are using local stores to shop more consciously. Regional products and healthy, locally produced materials will be in demand. Even if retail takes up less space in the future, it will become all the more diverse and surprising. Our interdisciplinary team is developing new and forward-looking concepts for this.
